From the beginning of my undergraduate career the Fall of 2015, I was a member of the Gettysburg College Choir, a 35-40 member choir in the Sunderman Conservatory singing a wide variety of repertoire from different origins, which tours annually. In the Fall of 2016, I successfully auditioned for the smaller, more select, Camerata. When I began working more closely with Dr. Natter, Director of Choral Activities at the conservatory, I joined the Gettysburg Concert Choir, a larger community choir with varying levels of choral experience. Through these groups, I have gained some absolutely wonderful performance experiences through our tours, home concerts, and large work concerts. The most memorable, I think, was our Peace & Justice tour, during which we traveled across the North-East U.S., doing social outreach in schools and in food pantries alongside our usual lineup of concerts.
Because of my involvement with the choral program at the Sunderman Conservatory, I have grown exponentially as a musician, chorister, and soloist. On multiple occasions, I had the opportunity to perform as the tenor soloist in Haydn's Missa in Augustiis and Handel's Messiah with orchestra, which were both tremendous experiences. |
